I am a SAHM to two beautiful girls, I am an Entrepreneur, Inventor, Craftoholic to boot and yes - I love Jesus too! I invented the original "Tuck 'n' Go" (as seen here) when my youngest daughter was only a month old. I needed something to keep her warm in her infant car seat and decided this "idea" would also make a great baby shower gift for a friend who was due the following month. As the project developed I decided to keep it a secret for a little while longer and ended up making a blanket for my friend's shower instead. You can check out my Kid Giddy website and email me if you'd like to order one for yourself or a friend. Or you can check out my KidGiddyEtsy site and order one from there. I also have plenty of other really cute things for babies, kids, and moms in my Etsy shop too.Everything else you see here (except for the cute baby in the car seat, that's my nephew!) is a Kid Giddy original. That's the name on my labels and it's all things kid, fun or both! I have so many ideas and I have so much information piling up in my brain that I just have to share. Maybe by having this blog - my brain will declutter as I post, making more room for more fun ideas and new info. Sometimes these ideas come from watching my daughters at play or from a dream, or while I'm driving from Maine to NY and back and have time to process the course of the stitching along the way or making a birthday present for someone.
What's in the name? Kid Giddy - I wanted to use my initials - KG. An old boss called me KP until I got married - and then called me KG - it was an easy switch.
I simply wanted to be able to "leave my initials" where ever I went. I didn't want a business with my name all over it - that seemed to pompous for my taste. I also really wanted my "name" to represent what I love to make and what I would be offerring. So I brainstormed with a dictionary all the words I liked that started with "K" and words I like that started with "G"...Lo and behold, I came up with Kid Giddy! And that's the story. Some people that don't know my real name call me "Kid" - but I usually will sign with a "k" or "kg". (just to be simple).I love posting business related things, some awesome recipes I've discovered over the course of my life, and have a boat load of fun things for kids to do. I may be switching up my days of the week so I can add in some of my photography (because I LOVE taking pictures!)...and so I can also start posting some fun tutorials. I can't post everyday because after all I love volunteering at my girls' schools and for church, and just spending time with my girls....
When I'm not doing all that - I also love to read, run, do Shaolin Kempo Karate (Green belt as of 12/09 my girls are Blue belts too!) and also love to have my music cranked. Back in Feb of 2007 I began learning how to write songs - and have participated in February Album Writing Month 3 years in a row. You can check out 2 songs I wrote the lyrics to that were also demo'd by fellow artists and later selected to be on the FAWM.ORG compilation CD's - on iTunes. "The Moon Escapes Tonight" by Becca Palm (2007) and "On Rare Occasion" by Josh Belville (to be out Jan 2010).
If that's not enough to peak your interest and follow my blog...I will be offering a few giveaways every now and then...So please follow along and enjoy the journey! Please contact me using the link above if you are interested in being a guest blogger.
If you like one of my posts - and you want to share it...GREAT! But please provide a link and don't just copy all my work and post it as your own. That just wouldn't be cool and that would also be infringing on copyright laws! (and I know karate)....Please request permission before using ANY and ALL of my photos. Those are protected by copyright laws too! If you share one of my posts, I'd be happy to include a link to your blog on my blogroll (provided you have a G rated or no more than a PG-13 rated blog).
Thanks, Kerry (aka - kg)
